Shabbat Shalom from TY

Dear TY Families and Friends,

Our first week at Camp Tel Yehudah is winding down and all of our campers and staff are busy getting ready for our first Shabbat together. Under clear skies, we will all gather together to welcome the Shabbat with song, dance and prayer.  Together we will all take a deep breath, light candles and welcome in Shabbat as one community. We are all looking forward to praying, singing, eating, learning, resting and celebrating Shabbat together.

It has been an amazing first week. The arrival of over 430 chanichim (campers) on Monday went very smoothly. They settled into their tsrifim (bunks), reuniting with old friends and meeting new ones. In these past few days campers took swim tests, chose their specialty programs, participated in team building activities, and went out on overnight trips. They participated in shira (singing), rikud (dancing), ropes course, omanut (arts and crafts), sports as well as activities designed to explore Jewish identity, Israel, community and leadership. Most importantly the chanichim have begun to feel at home at Tel Yehudah and are having a great time. While we only arrived four days ago, it already seems like we have been together for months.

The sun is beginning to set at Tel Yehudah and Shabbat is about to enter. So I am going to join your children now. I wish you and your family a sweet and restful Shabbat and a wonderful weekend.

שבת שלום (Shabbat Shalom),

David and the TY Team
