Our first week at Camp Tel Yehudah is winding down and all of our campers and staff are busy getting ready for our first Shabbat together. Under clear skies (for now), we will all gather together to welcome Shabbat with song, dance and prayer. Together we will all take a deep breath, light candles and welcome in Shabbat as one community. We are all looking forward to praying, singing, eating, learning, resting and celebrating Shabbat together.
Even though campers only arrived this past Monday we have already created a wonderful community together. This past week campers started their specialty programs, participated in team building activities, and went out on overnight trips. They participated in shira (singing), rikud (dancing), ropes course, omanut (arts and crafts), organic gardening, drama, sports, tzofiyut (scouting) as well as activities designed to explore Jewish identity, Israel, community and leadership. Most importantly over 325 chanichim (campers) made Tel Yehudah their home and had a great time. While we only arrived five days ago, it already seems like we have been together for months.
